03 de May 2024

Have you ever dreamt of a landscape capable of making you feel both tiny and at peace? In this article, we would like to invite you to find just such a place in the Parador de Bielsa. This modern building, built in the style of a typical mountain retreat, is located at the foot of Monte Perdido, surrounded by an immense forest over which the peaks of the National Park rise.

With the slogan “Territorio Paradores” we want to reaffirm our pride in being a hotel company that’s committed to the development of depopulated areas through tourism and the revitalisation of the local economy. At Paradores, we work to protect the privileged surroundings of our establishments, making their beauty and uniqueness known and promoting respect for them. Will you join us again?

NATURAL SPLENDOUR

Bielsa is a land of mountains and forests, of peaks that are lost beyond the clouds and rivers that overflow the visitor's eyes. Located at the foot of the Ordesa and Monte Perdido National Park, the Parador is the ideal starting point for exploring this limestone massif, the highest in Europe, declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO.

But Bielsa is also surrounded by other not-to-be-missed areas. To the north, you can get close to the Pyrenees National Park, which runs into neighbouring France. And if you’d prefer to listen to the murmur of the water filtering through the steep rocks of the region, don't miss the Añisclo Canyon and the Escuaín Gorges, two of the most impressive places in Monte Perdido.

HISTORY AND NATURE

If you’re passionate about culture, you will find incredible monuments in Bielsa like the churches of Ixavierre and Nuestra Señora de la Asunción or l'Ainsa, the largest medieval village in Spain. You can also explore the Romanesque Route of the Province of Huesca, full of hermitages and spectacular buildings.

In Bielsa, culture and nature go hand in hand: discover the "Art and Nature" route at the Art and Nature Centre (CDAN) in Huesca, or visit the Ecomuseum of Pyrenean fauna, where you can learn more about life in the valley.

MOUNTAIN CUISINE RETREAT

A visit to the Huesca Pyrenees invites you to enjoy simple, hearty and authentic mountain cuisine. A recipe book with an abundance of traditional dishes in which local seasonal produce is the main ingredient. You have to try the roast veal from Aragon or a good wild boar stew at the Parador, washed down with Somontano wines, without forgetting the D.O. Teruel ham, Barbastro pink tomato, baked bread from Labuerda, migas pastoriles, comforting soups, or a tasty trout from the Cinca. As well as wild game and river fishing, the surrounding countryside provides a wide variety of mushrooms, fungi and wild fruit. And there’s nothing better than a digestive glass of pacharán to round off the meal.
