Website Accesibility at Paradores

At Paradores de Turismo, we work to ensure that everyone, regardless of their abilities, age, personal circumstances, or technical resources, can access the content and services of our website on equal terms.

This commitment is part of our public service vocation and is framed within the provisions of current regulations on digital accessibility applicable to entities in the state public sector, in particular Royal Decree 1112/2018, of September 7, which regulates the accessibility of websites and mobile applications for public sector devices.

Regulatory Framework and Technical Reference

As an entity within the state public sector, Paradores takes into account, in the design, development, and maintenance of its website, the accessibility requirements established in the harmonized European standard EN 301 549, in force in the European Union, which defines the accessibility requirements applicable to information and communication technology products and services in the public sector.

Regarding web content, this standard is based on the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) published by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C), currently in version WCAG 2.1, using the AA conformance level as a reference, in accordance with the applicable regulatory framework.

The WCAG is structured around four fundamental principles: that content be perceivable, operable, understandable, and robust, and constitutes the international reference standard for web accessibility.

Accessibility Approach

With the aim of progressively improving the accessibility of its website, Paradores takes into account general accessibility criteria in the design, development, and maintenance processes, including:

  • - The use of open web standards and widely compatible technologies.
  • - The separation of content and presentation through the use of style sheets, facilitating the adaptation of content to different devices and user configurations.
  • - The use of structured and semantic HTML markup that promotes a coherent interpretation of the content.
  • - Consideration of general aspects related to navigation, readability, and consistency in the presentation of information, in accordance with the accessibility principles outlined in the WCAG.

Paradores recognizes that web accessibility is an ongoing process of improvement, and that there may be content or sections that can be optimized. Therefore, we work progressively to identify, correct, and prevent potential access barriers, whenever technically and organizationally feasible.
